Latin name: Cubomedusa
Species profile
Box-shaped medusa is transparent of up to app 5 cm in diameter. On umbrella surface and pedalia there are several whitish dots. It has 4 white, pinkish or yellowish tentacles that originate from 4 transparent pedaila (and not directly from the umbrella margine). In the northern Adriatic, is common in late summer or early autumn. However, medusae are very rare along the eastern Adriatic coast. This jellyfish is highly stinging.
