Latin name: Mediteranska meduza
Species profile
Medusa is identified by its peculiar body shape and colour. Umbrella is light brown with dark-brown or orange circular hump at its centre. It has symbiotic algae inside its body that give the intensity of medusa body coloration. Below the umbrella, there are white frilled oral arms with blue or purple coloration. It can grow more than 30cm in diameter. It is a native species in the northern Adriatic Sea and can be observed during summer and autumn. This jellyfish has a mild sting.
