Barrel jellyfish

Latin name: Morska pluća
Species profile
Medusa is among the largest native jellyfish in the northern Adriatic Sea. It can be identified by white, more robust body with blue or purple coloration on the umbrella margin and oral arms. It can grow up to 60 cm in diameter and weight more than 10 kg. It is among the most frequent and abundant jellyfish in the northern Adriatic and it is observed year-round. Large aggregations are often reported during winter and spring. This jellyfish has a mild sting.
