Medusa is easily distinguished by its four horse-shoe shaped pinkish reproductive organs that are visible through its transparent milky-whitish body. It has a flat umbrella that can measure up to 40cm in diameter with 4 oral arms at its centre. There are multiple short pink tentacles along the entire umbrella margin. It is very common in the northern Adriatic Sea during winter and spring. Large aggregations (i.e., blooms) are often reported from March to May.
This jellyfish has a mild sting.
